In Systems Management Server (SMS) version 2.0, you can perform a number of management tasks by using the tools provided with this product. For example, you can identify network traffic patterns and troubleshoot network problems, view software and hardware inventory data, monitor and manage the use of licensed software, and troubleshoot and manage client computers from your desktop.
To install most SMS tools, you must select them as options when you run SMS Setup from the Systems Management Server version 2.0 compact disc. For more information, see Install Tools. Other tools have their own setup programs and requirements. For more information, see About Installing Tools.
In the SMS Administrator console tree, the Tools item provides access to the following four tools: Crystal Info, Network Monitor, SMS Service Manager, and Software Metering, if you installed these tools through SMS Setup.
