How to Monitor Clients in Configuration Manager 2012

There are various tasks you can use to verify that Configuration Manager 2012 clients have been successfully installed and assigned to a site. There are further tasks you can use to ensure that clients remain managed.

The procedures in this topic provide information about the following methods to monitor Configuration Manager 2012 clients:

How to Use Reports to Verify Configuration Manager Client Deployment

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, click Monitoring.

  2. In the Monitoring workspace, expand Reporting and then click Reports.

  3. In the Reports window, click the Path heading to order the reports by type. Client deployment reports are under the path <database name>/SMS Site – Client Information.

  4. Click the report you want to run, and then on the Home tab, in the ReportGroup group, click Run.

  5. In the report window, click View Report.

How to Use Client Status to Monitor Configuration Manager Clients

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, click Monitoring.

  2. In the Monitoring workspace, expand Client Status

  3. In the Client Status window, review the current client health and client activity for computers in your site. Click Browse to choose a different collection of computers to display.

    You can click the chart labels Pass, Fail, Unknown, Active and Inactive to create a temporary collection of computers meeting these criteria. These collections can be found in the Assets and Compliance workspace in the Configuration Manager console.
  4. Click Client Health to view detailed information about the health of clients in your site and to show any attempts to remediate clients that failed health checks.

  5. Click Client Activity to view detailed information about the activity of clients in your site.
